Step 1 - Choosing and Preparing the Wall

This is where all the fun begins! Be sure to pick the feature wall that you will know can be painted and where the bed frame will be.

We picked a triangle pattern in this case that I really love. I am the girly type of mom, but by all mean feel free to use any other color patterns that you feel goes with your own particular style.

Make sure to buy a thick blue painting tape like this, especially if your wall is textured.

Once you place it be sure to make sure is sealed to the wall, again, especially if your wall is textured. We had a some issues on the first round that we needed to retouch since it was not fully sealed.

Step 2 - Choosing Your Paint Colors Pallet.

The paint colors that I used where the following. I do want to mention that my house was already painted on a very light gray paint, I will include the paint number as well: Behr Paints

  • Iron Mountain | N520-5 Satin Enamel Interior Paint and Primer in One 1 gal for the darker shade of gray.

  • Pink Quartz | S160-2 for polka dots

  • White paint

Step 3 - Choosing the right equipment for your project

For this project we used foam rollers and brushes for detailing. We also used regular paint brushes.

For the polka dots, I tried using a stencil, but because my wall is textured it did not work as expected. My suggestion to give it a try first on your wall and see how it works for you. We actually improvised and used the rounded flat area of the foam rollers, soaked it into the pink paint and used it to stamp smoothly the wall.

You can also use the foam/sponges shown on the picture on the right, these should also work.

Step 4 - Hands on! Let's get some polka dots on

First and foremost, ensure you cover all your floors and carpets before you start. Paint will get into anything, I swear! Even if you are super careful, so don't risk it and cover up :). Also, remove all the power sockets on the wall and cover the area with tape.

Once you are sure the tape is sealed you are good to start applying the darker shade of gray. It's really up to you if you want to start with the white color, we started with the gray because we didn't know better lol. So is really up to you and what makes more sense.

Once both colors are on on the wall, and before removing the taping, we stamped all the pink polka dots with the foam roller. I really didn't chose any specific pattern, I just separated all the dots trying to leave the same distance in between them.

Step 5 - Putting together the house bed frame

This step is pretty straight forward. We chose to build a house bed that we purchased at Amazon for $168. This was the best frame I could find for the price. There are other options out there that are gorgeous but I thought were to pricey for me, it all depends what you are looking for.

If you are not planing on a frame for your floor bed then you can skip this step :).

As I said, we purchased this house bed frame on Amazon, and I will leave the link here for you to be able to find it. Putting it together was very simple and all tools and instructions come in the box. You will only need a buddy to build it.

Note: Btw, don't forget to place the power sockets back on the wall.

Step 6 - Decor Time!

I am going to make it very straight forward and simple for you, here is the list of the things that I used to be able to match everything out:

  • Tassle Tooddler Quilt - Twin Pottery barn

  • Microfiber Sheet Set - Twin Target

  • Furry Pillow case Amazon

  • Faux Fur Kids Size Bean Bag Chair - Target

  • White/Gray Carpet Amazon

  • White Sheer curtain. Initially the one ordered was too short, so I purchased another one by the yard at Joans. I will update picture once I get it.
